Types of Braces
Made of high-grade stainless steel traditional metal braces are most common type of braces and suitable for all age groups patients. Self-Ligating Braces come either in traditional metal, ceramic or clear brackets and are made from the same materials as traditional braces. These type of braces deliver quick results and don’t have to visit your Orthodontist frequently. Self-ligating braces eliminate the need for bands and that makes it different from standard braces.
Ceramic braces are similar to metal braces but the brackets of ceramic braces are made of clear materials and therefore less visible on your teeth. It is commonly used by teenagers and adult patients as it is almost invisible. The only drawbacks to ceramic brackets are that they are more fragile, and the elastic ties can discolor between orthodontic visits and require more attention to oral hygiene.
Clear aligners are virtually invisible. These alignment trays are made from removable molds. As it is removable you can eat and drink whatever you want during the treatment period. The aligners are comfortable to wear when compared to other braces.
Unlike the traditional braces there special braces that do their work behind the teeth called Lingual Braces. As it is bonded behind the teeth, it will be invisible when you smile. Lingual braces are a very reasonable option for athletes, models, actors/actresses, musicians who play wind instruments, and adult professionals.
